सीधी समतल राहों पे थे, कि ठोकर खाना जाना ना,,
गर ठोकर हमने खा भी ली, तो गिरके संभलना जाना ना,,
ऊँचे लम्बे से शहरों में, हर रोज़ झड़ी है संघर्षो की,,
गाँवो को देखा तो पाया, संघर्ष तो हमने जाना ना,,
कुछ हँस कर के बोला हमने, कुछ बातें उनकी भी सुन ली थी,,
जो दुःख, पीड़ा चेहरों पे थी, उनको दिल में ही रख ली थी,,
ये जानते थे कि अंतर है, पन्नों में और हकीकत में,,
लेकिन, जब आँखों से देखा ,तो जाना कि ये तो ईक समंदर है,,
न जाने कितने घर उजड़े, और अभी कई हैं कतारों में,,
जब एक बीमारी से मरता, तो दूजा खड़ा है लाचारी में,,
हम सरकारों, और अफ़सरों को, कठघरे में लाना चाहते हैं,,
लेकिन अपने हिस्से का कर्म, बस किसी और पे मढ़ना चाहते हैं,,
सुना था मैंने ये जीवन भर, कि ” डॉक्टर भगवान ही होते हैं “,,
जब BHS में आई तो जाना, ये लोकोकक्ति नहीं हकीकत है,,
जो स्वयं के स्वार्थ को तज कर, दूसरों का दुःख भी समझते है,,
मैं कहती हुँ, वो “नारायण” हैं, बस “नर” के वेश में रहते हैं।।

Grazing through the foothills of Aravalis, we embarked on a journey to a small village, a few minutes away from udaipur, our pockets packed with anticipation and excitement for what’s going to unfold.
One could hardly imagine that this remote place was going to host one of the core memories for all the medicos that were fortunate enough to arrive.
We were greeted with mentors from a panel of expertise in healthcare, their aura captured our apprehensions and all these new people felt like a family we’ve found.
It started with all of us getting to know each other through fun games and ice breakers, with every passing minute, the awkwardness was fading and a new excitement to know each other raised, there was a comfort at that place, i felt like i could voice my thoughts
I used to believe that the purpose of this rural sensitisation programme was to show us how even with minimal medical resources, maximum people are catered to, but its beyond that, its about building a team, not with a hierarchy, but with the right mentorship that guides and trains even the ordinary residents of a village to be an active gear of the machinery, health is not just about right diagnosis and right prescription, its about educating the underprivileged so that they can lead on a safer lifestyle, its about having a chain of individuals that link the right expertise with even the remotest of households, its about not looking at patients as if they’re a pathology, but as individuals with families and stories
The holistic approach to maintaining well being of people has been statistically backed too, there were no to minor cases of lactational failure in mothers who were delivered and counseled in the facilities run by BHS. The NGO also provides food supplementation, cheap medicines, poultry, to people in need, not only taking care of the patient but also aiding for his family.
It was surprising to see how mechanical our minds become learning the algorithms off books, not realising that being a doctor has equally to do with empathy as with academic knowledge
We were going to new field visits everyday, crossing streams, running along the plains, it was liberating to be there, the night sky kept me in its awe, last time i saw those m
And i feel i have the responsibility to write essays over the food their, theany stars, it was on google images authentic rajasthani flavours! everyday it was something new, my tastebuds are still sore relapsing back to mess food
The icing on cake was the music performance, it gave rhythm to our emotions as our hearts felt heavy bidding goodbyes to our favourite people, who for some strange reason felt closer.
My heartfelt gratitude to all the ‘mouths’, all the ‘ears’ and all the ‘eyes’, that gave me a new perspective to become the change.
